Walk and Click Wednesdays #26: Missed Opportunity, but ...

It's time for Walk and Click Wednesdays!

First I want to express my excitement that WCW is growing. Thanks to all of you who are dedicating time to exploring your world and sharing it through your images here. I have noticed that we span the globe with many of you coming from overseas: Korea, Singapore, Spain, Slovakia, Thailand, Tunisia, The Netherlands, United Kingdom ... and spanning the US from coast to coast. I am so grateful to see you all each week.

I missed my opportunity to get out for a walk on Saturday when the sun was shining. I chose to get some work done on my book project, then spent quite a bit of time on Sunday as well since we got a foot of snow! I only went out to shovel!!

Nevertheless, I took some opportunities to capture what was going on around me ...

The traffic was moving so slowly, I couldn't resist capturing the conditions as I drove to work earlier this week.

And this from a colleagues window later in the day ...

Kobi loves the snow ... I wasn't up for taking him out to explore, but that didn't keep him for exploring his own back yard though and bring in a bit ... my sweet little SnowBeard!

Sometimes my walks only taking me down the hall at work ...

These quotes are posted in the rest rooms by one of our employees who likes to share a bit of wisdom and inspire. I coined it "bathroom wisdom" today when I asked who posts these wonderful bits. I was informed that this special person changes the quotes weekly. BTW, the quotes are just posted as a simple B/W printout and I enhanced them to look a bit more artsy. ;->

All images this week are cell phone pics. Textures thanks to Kim Klassen and Shadowhouse Creations.

I look forward to seeing you here for Walk and Click Wednesdays. Can't wait to see what you saw on your strolls.

Please join me in the adventure. The only "requirement" other than those below is that you go out walking and take some pictures. Please keep in mind that you don't have to walk, take pictures, process them, and post all on Wednesday ... take the weekend before to explore and a few days to process your photos ... then link up.

Walk and Click Wednesdays (WCW) Guidelines:

Are you new to Walk and Click Wednesdays? The party will open on Wednesday and close on Saturday at midnight.

Here are just a few guidelines to keep everyone on target.

Walk and Click Wednesdays #25: Bits and Pieces

It's time for Walk and Click Wednesdays! How did that happen? I have know idea where the time went. I even had an extra weekend day with the President's Day holiday!

Somehow I got behind the eight ball this week and never got a real adventure walk in. Hmmm ... I guess my day job is getting in the way of my avocation ... keeping up with my creative side and my blog.

No, I'm not complaining! I'm very happy to be working, thank you. ;->

So, this week, I'm posting just a few bits and pieces ... little jewels that caught my eye as I wandered through my days.

This cute little bench is outside my office. Last week we got snow ... not much as you can see since this was the morning after. We could use more moisture. Should get some later this week. I wish we'd get  a good one, but it doesn't seem to be in the forecast.

I met my friend, Shirley, for coffee at the Red Frog in Longmont, Colorado. Neat little coffee shop. They even have a red frog statue outside the front door and although I noticed it, I missed the photo opp.

We visited for a bit, then got down to work. I worked on laying out the manuscript for the book project I've had going for a bit. Permissions for quotes are holding us up, but it was good to get a reader's copy finished so my client can send it out to solicit endorsements. Shirley worked on critiquing works from her writing group. Six hours later I was on my way to get Kobi out before the sun set.

Since I hadn't gotten around to planning an adventurous outing, I just took Kobi to the dog park in Lafayette. He just loves running around with his pals and picking up disgustingly filthy rogue tennis balls! I love the long shadows of the setting sun. Yep, that's me ... cheating on a selfie! ;->

Walk and Click Wednesdays #24: Winter Color

It's time for Walk and Click Wednesdays! We are growing! It's so exciting to see all of you getting out, taking pictures, and linking up here. Be sure to tell your friends how much fun it is ... they will get a bit of exercise and discover their surroundings in a whole new way. Let's encourage more folks to follow your lead.

I made it out for a walk this week around McKay Lake in Broomfield, Colorado before the weather closed in and the temperature dropped. I even had a little bit of sunshine!

Who says you can't find color in the winter? Who says it's only grey and brown? Oh, I know, those are the predominant colors, but I have discovered that finding color is even more special in winter because you have to look for it. And when you find it you think you've found the prize.

So this week I'm presenting a marathon photo post of winter color ... 25 images! I was so surprised that I got so many of my pictures from my walk that pleased me. I'd love it if you'd leave a comment and let me know your favorites.

#1: The trailhead to McKay Lake.

#2: The geese play follow-the-leader or maybe they're going home to those big houses on the horizon.

#3: Winter crawls over the mountains on cat's feet.

#4: This horse didn't get all his stockings on this morning or droopy drawers.

#5: Golden field of grass ... amber waves of grain.

#6: Puffy clouds over McKay Lake.

#7: Geese coming in for a landing.

#8: Kobi ... my trusty trooper and encourager.

#9: Ok, are these bulrush or cattails? I recently learned there is a difference. I can't tell.

#10: The blustery wind came in on the south shore.

#11: A winter branch-covered walk.

#12: Kobi and Spanky (French Bulldog) nose-to-nose and eyeball-to-eyeball ... a staring contest.

#13: What on earth did this gull find?

#14: The gull flies off with his prize. Love the blue feathers in his wings and red at his bill.

#15: Receding rooftops against a snowy mountain backdrop.

#16: Wow, I couldn't believe I caught this gull in flight against the mountains. Almost looks fake. No, it isn't Photoshopped. ;->

#17: Rusty brush against a blue winter sky.

#18: Dormant dried flowers ... I'm amazed how pretty these look.

#19: I don't know what this red-branched brush is, but I was attracted to the little buds.

#20: Rusty brush against a steely grey sky.

#21: The red-branched brush lining the walking path.

#22: Winter clouds continue to crawl in for the afternoon.

#24: The ice flow has begun to melt on McKay Lake.

#25: Orange growth grows among the bricks.

Green is the Color of Happy!

I've been working at NITA for three weeks now and am so happy. I've got a great boss, nice colleagues, and a wonderful space of my own. I'm enjoying co-creating efficient processes with/for the Executive Director. It's great to be designing a bright new future where I can make a difference and hang my photographic work too!

A walking path nearby takes me along Boulder Creek on my lunch break ... to a familiar spot that my friend Karen and I walked once before she moved away from Colorado. What sweet memories!

Life is great again ... and ... I never thought it would feel so good to pay bills! Got my first paycheck Friday ... green is definitely the color of happy, especially when you like where you go to earn it!!

Creative Expression: Revisiting Northern Colorado for Photo Art Friday

I'm joining Bonnie for Photo Art Friday. Her theme this week is abstracts ... this isn't exactly as much an abstract as it is a collage/mosaic or landscape creation. She asked that we use her texture Dropped Petals, one other texture, and one or two images.

I went a bit further: this collage contains five images and three textures. I found it fun to do this as it made for a more complete landscape of what I saw on my trip several weeks ago when I captured a pair of Bald Eagles in Northern Colorado west of Ft. Collins. For some reason I was drawn to revisit the eagles and other captures from that trip and meet Bonnie's challenge.

It looks like I've missed the sunshine this weekend, which only lasted a few hours this morning. The grey clouds of a snow storm are rolling in. I guess my weekend pics for next weeks' Walk and Click Wednesday might be white or at least grey.

Walk and Click Wednesdays #23: Gregory Canyon

It's time for Walk and Click Wednesday! We love seeing all of you. Do tell your friends how much fun it is to get out walking and taking pictures.

I like to find new places to go each weekend even though revisiting a spot can often yield new discoveries. Sometimes I don't do enough research though and this past weekend was no exception. Kobi and I got to Gregory Canyon at the west end of Baseline in Boulder on a very grey Super Bowl Sunday.

As you can see there was snow! I certainly hadn't prepared properly and didn't have the right shoes with ample tread on the soles, but decided to forge on anyway. Kobi, always the trooper, had no trouble, but I had to be extra careful as falling is never an option at my age.

It wasn't long before my sweet boy was waiting as I took a break to catch my breath, but I did continue. As it turned out, I believe this hike was only about one mile, but it felt like 5 miles.

It was steep. I call it the hike of a thousand steps ... up!! I must say due to the temperature, approximately 42º, not bad when there is sunshine, I was only on a mission to reach a destination ... the top. That is always relative when climbing mountains. In this case, on Amphitheater Trail, I thought I would find some sort of vista. Debatable.

There was this bright spot on the ground. Otherwise, the color was somewhat monochromatic ... brown, grey, forest green. Oh, and a bit of white.

More steps. Up, of course. I kept pushing although my body was saying, "Are you crazy?" Carrying extra weight and taking moderate strolls only a few times a week, it was just plain challenging, reminding me that I really must work on all this health stuff. OK, Sarah, I really must follow your lead, my friend. I'm so proud of you for your 5 lb. weight loss.

I did crest the horizon, but was disappointed that there wasn't really a view. It was chilly enough that I didn't really rest long ... just enough to know I could manager the return downhill. I just needed to be sure not to slip on the snow-covered steps, which took a bit of effort.

I was exhausted and my muscles ached when I got home. This always affects my brain. So I vegged on TV. I managed to catch the last 5 minutes of the Super Bowl game. Not much of a sports enthusiast, but I did find it engaging enough that I postponed my pre-bedtime bath. Too bad the 49ers couldn't carry that pigskin over the goal line one more time. It just would have made for a good underdog story!
