Walk and Click Wednesday #30: Evening Snow and Very Short Walks

It's Walk and Click Wednesday! Aren't you glad? Were you able to get out and walk, even for a little bit. I must admit my walks were very short this week! Sometimes just out my front door, sometimes a bit farther.

Last Friday evening we got snow. I was up late doing something, can't remember what now, but I noticed an intriguing phenomenon that I've never seen anywhere else, but have notice a few times here in Colorado ... that in the middle of the night it looks almost light as day outside. These images were taken at 11pm!! It was really beautiful. I love the way the light casts a pink glow upon the snow.

Saturday I stopped by Redbox. I just had to have a movie, but I struggled with being practical or daring ... was it worth risking getting stuck in the snow just to get a movie! Well, fortunately, by afternoon, the snow let up and the roads began to melt off. It was a bit slick on some of the slight hills around here, but nothing that concerned me.

I didn't venture into McDonald's, but as I made an effort to capture seagulls hovering above the McDonald's sign and missing them, I just liked the pop of color in the grey sky. ;->

I rented Robot & Frank which I really enjoyed. It was an interesting treatise on aging in the future, what constitutes friendship, and what might happen to libraries.

And Sunday, Kobi got a much-needed grooming. This usually takes me a couple of hours with bathing, cutting, and brushing! But oh, it's really worth it. He looks so pretty and smells delightful!! Why is I seem to love him more when he's soft and clean? He's just more cuddly.

I look forward to seeing where all of you have been this week.

Just a friendly reminder ... please link directly to your post, not your main url.

Walk and Click Wednesday #29: Tales from Kobi and Chamberlin Observatory

It's Walk and Click Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by ... it's Kobi's turn to tell the story this week! ;->

~~~~
Mom's mission for the day was to head to Denver to get some raspberry frozen yogurt. Of course, I can't have it, but she says it's the best in the Denver metro area. I mean, really, it's got to be good to drive 30 miles for, right? Her second mission was to find things to photograph for WCW, but she promised she'd get me out for my walk too. So, off we went.
First stop ... the Louisville Dog Park near home ...  my opportunity to get the bouncy energy out before the long drive.
The focus on this happy guy is a bit misplaced, but he does have a pretty nice smilin' face. We didn't stay long; the interaction wasn't quite to Mom's liking.
This didn't seem to be typical dog play ... this Shepherd and Lab. No one got hurt while we were there, but Mom wasn't particularly happy to see that the owners weren't doing much to stop the bearing-teeth interaction. And she certainly didn't want me finding my way into the middle of it. Sometimes I just don't get that everyone isn't friendly like me.
What? She didn't take any pictures of me?? Well, she did take one, but it was a bit blurry so she let the other dogs have the spotlight. I mean, I get to be featured all the time anyway.
After Mom stopped for her yogurt ... mmm, I wish I could have had a lick, but no, left me in the car to get it and then she kept it all for herself ... just tempting me with it until the last spoonful was gone. I didn't even get to lick the cup. Hmmm, why's that?  I'm a good boy. Oh well ... the nice thing is while we were in Denver we stumbled upon this little gem of a spot and spent some time enjoying the sunshine and the grounds. Mom really liked the architecture of Denver's historic Chamberlin Observatory.
She took a moment to sit on this lovely bench just made for resting ... the marble etched with the names of contributors to the Chamberlin Observatory in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of its founding.
This park was so peaceful and seemed to be frequented by dog owners. Mom discovered there isn't a dog park nearby and there was lots of talk about owners being ticketed for having dogs off-leash. Nevertheless, she let me run around loose. We have lots of off-leash places up north where we live. That's good for me and good for Mom too ... she doesn't have to worry about tickets!
Meet Tillie ... part Catahoula, the owners think. Based on a little Google research, it looks like she might have some German Koolie. No matter what the breed, Tillie is a cute bundle of energy and I had some fun chasing after her and the red tennis ball.
This dad and his son battled the unpredictable winds as they flew their cool kite. While I sat by patiently, Mom had fun watching how Dad allowed his son to hold the string carrier. The boy was totally engaged.
We look forward to seeing where you've been this week!
By the way, just a friendly reminder ... please link to your blog post, not your main url. Thanks so much.
Walk and Click Wednesday #28: Winter White
It's time for Walk and Click Wednesday!! I trust you are all doing well.
Thank you all for playing last week ... I hope you've had a chance to get out for your walk this week. Are you discovering new things? Are you feeling better because you're getting out? What do you notice ... outside in the world and inside you?
Saturday. It was the blizzard that wasn't ... at least not 30 miles north of Denver in Lafayette. Oh yes, it snowed for quite a while ... about 4am to 2pm, but it was wet and heavy and melted off the roads with traffic. We didn't have any significant accumulation either. So much hype, even canceled flights at DIA. And my writing coffee was canceled because my friend and I thought it would be too bad by the time we would be making our way home.
Regardless of the snow, Kobi and I got out for our walk. It was actually not that cold. Nothing stops Kobi.
By noon, I was up for going somewhere since I wasn't accomplishing much at home ... so I met with my self at the Red Frog and worked on my client book project for four and a half hours. It was very a productive time.
Sunday. The sun came out. Snow melted. A lovely walk at the Anthem planned community where I learned there are 47 miles of walking paths! I live close enough to drive there ... only 5 minutes away, but don't have to pay the HOA fees. Sweet!
Kobi had a blast with Riley, the 9-month-old Sheltie, as I talked to Riley's owner.
Creative Expression: The Little Dress Dances in the Night
I'm loving creating photo art ... it takes me to a totally different place than my nature photography. A place where I truly create even when I do integrate photographs.
I'm linking up with Bonnie's Pixel Dust Photo Art Friday. Her original challenge was to create a piece using only textures. Even though she switched it up to one photograph + textures, I liked the original idea.
So, this is an abstract made completely of textures, a little custom shape, and warp effect. It looked like a beautiful evening dress to me, so I made it dance in the night with a little pendant at the neckline.
Textures thanks to Pixel Dust: Drops of Jupiter, Silken Waters, Palazzo, Soft Swirls
Texture thanks to Kim Klassen: 1402
Originally I was going to post my laf Abstract for the Photo Art challenge ... check it out too if you haven't seen it already.
Walk and Click Wednesday #27: Lost in the Void
It's time for Walk and Click Wednesdays!
Have you ever intended to go exploring, to go for a walk ... someplace new, but found yourself lost with no place to stop, no place that enticed you to take a single picture?
I went out both Saturday and Sunday and came home empty handed. In fact, Sunday I traveled to Denver with high hopes of taking some street photography inspired by my friend, Lisa Gordon. But it was not to be ... although I've rarely shied away from going places alone, I found myself in a full-blown anxiety attack and before long was headed home.
Textures thanks to Kim Klassen: Phoebe
So, this week, instead of a walk and click adventure, I just bring you my sweet Kobi, with a bit of melted snow on his snout, longing for a real walk rather than a visit to the back yard ... hoping Mom finds time and energy again soon.
And I want to leave you with the view from my office ... and the Rocky Mountains dusted with snow! (taken last Friday)
Can't wait to see where all of you have been this week and hope to get inspired again. ;->
Creative Expression: laf Abstract Mosaic
I took some time today to play. I've been missing exploring and creating. So later this week, March 8, I'll post to Bonnie's Photo Art Friday. I know, it's almost a week away, but her prompt inspired me now.
